redevelopment

The City Council created the Redevelopment Agency in 1972 to facilitate development where the challenges were best met by public and private partnerships.  Over the years, the Agency has partnered with private developers on a number of developments successfully completed and several new ones now under development and predevelopment.

Current Projects Being Redeveloped:

The Monterey Park Redevelopment Agency offers the opportunity for creative re-use of physically or economically underutilized properties.  The two redevelopment project areas, Atlantic/Garvey and Merged, encompass the major commercial corridors of Atlantic Boulevard, Garfield and Garvey Avenues, plus other commercial ares of the City.  These areas cover over 1,100 acres of land serving a broad local and regional customer base.
